Cat Services

How to find cat services in your area

Given the popularity of feline companions, your community will have a wide range of cat services available to help you train, pamper and care for your pet. Whether you're going away and need a cat sitter or just want to spoil your furry friend with a cat grooming treatment, you have plenty of options at your fingertips – all you'll need is a little know-how to help you distinguish a good business from a bad one.

Things to Look For in Reputable Cat Services

Regardless of whether a business provides cat grooming services, pet babysitting or trains misbehavior-prone animals, you should always ask for references from past satisfied customers and follow up on any leads you're given. If a business is unwilling or unable to provide you with references, politely decline their cat services and continue your search elsewhere.

Cat training and cat grooming professionals must also meet certification standards; while it's not illegal to offer cat grooming services without certification, you'll enjoy a higher quality of service if you stick with properly credentialed providers. You should always demand certification from cat training services, and deal with businesses that can provide a tangible, proven track record of success.

What to Expect From Various Cat Services

To get the best value for your money, you should have an idea of the typical services offered by various businesses so you can choose the provider that offers the most for the least amount of money. Here are guidelines outlining what you can expect to get from cat services in your community:

Cat grooming services: You can hire cat grooming professionals to shampoo and trim your pet's coat, care for its claws, and primp and preen its general appearance. Some cat grooming services will come to your home, while others require you to bring your cat in for an appointment; full-service cat grooming businesses may also offer boarding for your pet if you're going to be out of town for an extended period of time.

Cat training services: Since most cats are disinclined to learn and perform tricks the way dogs do, cat training services focus on correcting undesirable behaviors like aggression, refusal to use a litter box and dislike of other pets. Many of these businesses offer affordable retainer fees for ongoing service and, like cat grooming services, they will either come to your home or ask you to bring your pet in to a training center.

Larger cities may also offer a broader range of cat services, including pet psychologists, cat sitting and full-service pet salons. Talk to your vet or other cat owners in your neighborhood if you want to get the inside scoop on cat service providers in your area.

my "momma cat" had a liter of kittens about 5 weeks ago everything was fine, then about a week ago she would take a few steps and turn around in a circle. Now for the past week it is getting worse. She turns in circles constantley. Pupils are dialated, if you take a light to her eyes they dont change much just a little. And it seems like no sense of direction, the circle keeps going in the same direction. She does stop long enough to eat and feed the kittens but when she is done its back to the circles. what could be wrong with her????

My cat is about 15 years old and she has been drinking lots of water and is puking more than normal. When she pees her urine sticks in the bottom of the litter box and doesn't come out very well. She is also losing hair on the back of her legs. She seems to come around more for attention, like she will follow you around till you pick her up and hold her, or sit in a chair with her, i guess she just wants to be with some one at all times. i guess i was wondering if i should be worring about her.

I live in Omaha, NE. and I am getting ready to move to New York State. I will be staying with friends until I get my own place and will not be able to take her with me. Could you help me find a good home for her. She is a cat that needs to be by herself. She doesn't like people and will hide when someone comes into the house. I didn't want to take her to the shelter due to having so many older cats. I'm afraid they may not find a home for her and put her to sleep. She is a good mouser and loves to play. I have a 7 yr old toy poodle that she loves to with so if you would have a dog she would get along well with, just not another cat. PLEASE HELP ME FIND A HOME.

My young male stray cat that we took in a few years ago has a wound on its tail. Can someone please give my family good home treatment for the cats wound. We dont have enough money to bring it to a vet but we will want to treat this cat as if it were just like our others of course. Some articles say warm water and salt while other suggestions say rosemary or vitimin E capsules but break them open and gently rub the oil on the wound. While Ive heard not to apply the peroxide on the tail I dont know if any of these home remedies would work in a few days time. Please help this is the first time weve had this problem and we dont know how he got the wound. Hes an out door cat and we have two other cats of our own. One is a female 11 yrs old and the other cat which is also ours is 11 yr male. thankyou

I am not sure where you are from, but in Ashtabula, Ohio the APL is having a spay and neuter mobile and it is $40 for female cats, and like $30 for males. You have to make an appointment.

my 41/2 yr old female is urinating outside of the litter box and suddenly going all over the house. She also starins when trying to defecate. She had a bladder infection when i recvd her 2 months ago, but was treated. Is she sick and should be taken to vet? My 14 yr old male, also peed on carpet in front of me. He has never gone outside tje box. Is this a common problem and what do I do?

My 8 year old male cat hurt his leg earlier, i guess he landed on it wrong or something .. its fine now. But Keeping an eye on him made me notice him not looking like he felt very good. He is just kinda lathargic, sleepy, etc... I can see it in his face he doesnt feel well. Im hoping he just has a belly ache that will go away.... But I would like to know what I can look for to get more definitive answers.. i need to know if I should take him to emergency clinic or if I should try to wait in out...PLEASE HELP. My cats are everyhint to me

If they are everything to you take him to the vet, they will give you the correct information as to what to do. I know financially sometimes we put things aside but instead of buying lunch bring it from home or cut down on the electric bill just to get some money together to be able to get to the Vet, that is what Iam going through now and its hard but I love my cats and they deserve to be healthy and taken care of....Hope this helps and good luck
